YouTube Tries Out Post-Roll Video Ads
A huge viewership, but without monetization to match it is getting YouTube to take another look at its monetization strategy. A few months earlier it was InVideo ads (overlays) which were expected to be the savior, with Google citing a research saying that 75% of the surveyors were not too happy with pre-roll and post-roll video ads.
Other research however, found that marketers preferred InStream video ads to overlays.
Now, however YouTube is going the post-roll way to boost revenue. As NewTeeVee notes:
If you don’t click on an overlay ad when it shows up in a clip you’re watching, the video ad it would have played rolls automatically at the end of your video. Previously a post-roll video wouldn’t play without being initiated by the user.
