Mix social networking with investing and what you get is Covestor - some have gone so far as to call it disruptive.
Currently in Beta, Covestor is a real-trade sharing service for proven self-investors - to share your real investment decisions, gain recognition and earn fees by helping others.
How it works:
You sign-up for the service, and plug-in your online brokerage account information and your portfolio shows up on the site, and the system creates its relative performance to the broader indices, sector indices and also creates a risk profile. It’s not a fantasy game; instead it is your real portfolio, where real money is at work.
Everyone can hence view the other’s portfolios’ which in turn would lead to a reputation system, and hence a good investor could have a following with other members following his investment mix.
They have raised $1 million in funding from angel investors so far.
