Wait For The iPhone In India Nears End

The much-awaited India launch of the Apple iPhone is expected with Vodafone in the first week of September says the Business Standard. Initially the 8 GB version is expected to be launched at a price ranging between Rs 27,200 and Rs 28,000.
For the uninitiated, the iPhone combines a touch screen interface with Wi-Fi, a powerful email client, TV feeds, online music store and map-based location guide not to mention applications for YouTube, etc. in an extremely sleek and enviable casing.
While the iPhone can be ‘unlocked’ (or configured to use SIM cards from all telecom carriers), I doubt either Vodafone or Apple would be too happy with the prospects – more so since Apple is reckoned to share revenues with the carriers for the iPhone.
At a time, when number potability is being talked about, and subscriber churn increasing, operators would need to start looking for differentiating factors.
