The iPhone, Now On Airtel As Well
In what has got to be a first, its looking like the iPhone would be available with two operators in India at last count. According to this release, Vodafone would not have exclusive rights to the iPhone with Airtel cutting itself a slice of the pie as well.
Airtel’s announcement comes on the heels of world’s largest mobile phone operator Vodafone announcing last week to distribute iPhones worldwide including India.
It appears that Airtel may start offering iPhones around Diwali festival to its over 65 million GSM-based subscribers, in which case it might beat Vodafone to the race. In today’s Indian mobile market, where differentiation is poised to play a big role, this does not bode well for Vodafone
