TATA Communications Invest $11.5 Million In BitGravity CDN
Tata Communications has invested $11.5 million in BitGravity, a Content Delivery Network for interactive broadcasting. The company has also announced the launch of a global CDN service which is powered by BitGravity and will be initially available on 20 locations through Europe, Asia, North America and India.
Reliance Globalcom, a division of Reliance Communications, has also entered into an agreement with Internap Network Services to launch CDN services in the country.
“Video will soon become over 80% of the traffic on the Internet and content delivery will become strategic for every carrier. Carriers without a CDN strategy will inevitably become insignificant and will lose the economy of scale required to be competitive. This is a strategic endeavor for both Tata Communications and BitGravity and sends a bold message to the global CDN market,” according to Berge Avayzian, Chief Strategy Officer of Yankee Group.

Great Job Tata !
Telcos like Tata will find great synergies with CDN as CDN as technology is incomplete w/o the backbone and fibre. Lets hope Tata & Reliance together can give better services to CDN customers atleast in India and remove the monopoly of Akamai !
