Standardising Web Analytics

Web Analytics AssociationAs the Internet develops, and analytics start becoming more complex, the Web Analytics Association (WAA) has aimed to providing consistency in the most widely used terms across the analytics industry, with publishing standard definitions for 26 foundational web analytic metrics covering the areas of visits, content and conversion – the result of a collaborative effort between WAA members, vendors, agencies, practitioners and thought leaders. Download the document here.
This document follows its previous release of web analytics definitions, created in 2006, that focused on the three most important metrics across all analytics software and tools – unique visitors, visits/sessions and page views.
And, by the way, Web Analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of Internet data for the purposes of understanding and optimizing Web usage.
