Search Advertising To Reach $30.5 Billion In 2008

While revenue growth for the online sector is expected to “decelerate” slightly, JPMorgan estimates the earnings of Internet companies will grow more than four times faster than those of the overall US stock market during 2008.
Predictions for the worldwide search revenues expect to reach $30.5 billion, up from $26.2 billion in 2007, and estimated to grow at an annual rate of 28% over the next four years, to reach $60 billion by 2011.
Back home in India, according to Mahesh Murthy, founder and CEO of search engine marketing firm Pinstorm, estimates that Google’s revenues in India have likely tripled in the last year to more than Rs 200 crore. “At Pinstorm, we think the total amount spent online by advertisers is well over Rs 600 crore this year—which is about twice of what it was last year, and about half as much again as what we think it’ll be next year.”
