RCom Soft Launches GSM Service

In a soft launch of its service across Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat, Punjab, Bangalore and Chennai, RCom has issuing test SIM cards to employees on Sunday. The actual launch is slated in the next 8 to 10 weeks in Mumbai and Delhi says Business Standard.
With a projected investment of Rs 6,000 crores for its GSM operations, the company is said to have installed over 2,500 towers in Delhi and Mumbai, and invested around Rs 800 crore each for the purpose.
With its GSM network, I am sure Reliance would ensure that customers would be able to have the same number for both CDMA and GSM connections which would also help in international roaming – which I think is one of the places where CDMA loses out.
Looks like its exciting times ahead for the GSM market.
