Linkedin – Getting Its Place In The Sun

Looks like social networking for business may finally be getting its 15 minutes of fame. According to a research by Nielsen Online (figures via TVWeek), LinkedIn, the business-oriented social networking website grew by more than 300% this March over last March’s unique audience numbers.
While the number place MySpace at the top of the list followed by Facebook, none of them have shown the kind of growth that LinkedIn has across category. MySpace should however take note on their 8% growth vis-a-vis Facebook’s 98%.
Being a niche network, it is unlikely that LinkedIn would ever be able to match the kind of users that would be drawn to a general social network such as Facebook or MySpace, but this kind of growth gives indications of the shape of social networks to come.
