Is Money-India.com, A Personal Finance Portal?
Venturian Media Ltd, a UK based online publishing and performance based search engine marketing company has recently launched what it calls a “personal finance website” – money-india.com.
Adopting a blog model, the site consists of news articles, product comparisons, a couple of financial tools (incidentally, the loans repayment calculator, has “$” as the currency displayed, and the currency calculator is licensed from XE).
It looks like this has been launched with one objective – a means to generate leads for their financial clients. The connection between the companies whose product details are listed and the banner advertisements is not too difficult to arrive at. Given the background of the company, the emphasis on SEO is already quite visible, so you could expect quite a bit of organic traffic to flow to the website.
Given this background, would it be proper to call it a personal finance website – if we go by the letter, sure, because it has some amount of information related to what can be referred to as personal finance, but this could hardly classify as an informative source. Even newspapers tend to mark such sections as advertorials – is it time we had such differentiations in the online space as well?
