Indian Online Ad Banner Market – Rs. 350 crores by 2008-09

The online banner advertisement market is expected to jump 40% to reach Rs. 350 crores by 2008-09 from its current size of Rs 235 crores [2007-08] according to Online Banner Advertisement in India, a study released by the Internet and Mobile Association [IAMAI] and IMRB.
BFSI, online industry and ITES with a share of 25%, 25% and 13%  respectively, were the leading advertisers in the online banner space in 2007-08, with the share of BFSI  expected to rise marginally to 26% in 2008-09. The other sector to watch in 2008-09 is the education sector, which is expected to double its share from 4% to 7%. The share of online companies is likely to come down to 23% during the same period.
80% of the users surveyed clicked on an online advertisement during 2007 – an increase from the 56% for 2006. I am not sure this would be an accurate measure however. [Via release]
