How Will People React To Mobile Number Portability?

As mobile number portability, which will allow mobile subscribers to switch operators without changing numbers, waits in the wings, a study by a research firm Strategy Analytics revealed that close to 90% of country’s mobile subscribers do not want to change their operator for at least a year.
“In the last 12 months 81% of the users have not changed their operators and 89% of the users are not going to switch between operators in the next 12 months,” the study said. [Via]
I wonder how relevant this study is, considering that now if someobody want to change their operators, they would also need to change their numbers. Does this reflect a lack of understanding of mobile number portability, or given the dropped calls, etc. that everyone talks about, does this imply that all operators are equally bad?
