Green.Ndtv.com – Seeking Environmentalists

NDTV has launched Green.NDTV.com to generate entries for and engage people for its recently launched TV reality show called Indiaís Environmentalist that aims to search for people who are involved in environment protection work.
“The site and reality show are actually an extension of a nationwide environment campaign, called ‘Open Up Tomorrow, Today’, being unleashed on TV, internet and mobile in May in partnership with Toyota. People who want to participate in the show can register on the site and upload their environment related work in the form of text, videos or photos. There is an option to submit entries through a mobile short code, 56388,” according to Sanjay Trehan, chief executive officer, NDTV Convergence.
NDTV is also using the site to educate people about the challenges to the environment and how people can save nature. [Via]

  1. Dear Sir,
I would like to share many ideas which have remained with me for want of a proper platform and support. To mention one of the ideas is to attempt plantation in remote inacessable plains of the Indian region.
The idea is to have the airforce planes doing the firing practise in wastelands with the bullets/projectiles partly filled with plant seeds just before the onset of monsoons. This exercise will ensure proper penetration of the seed in the soil and softening of the soil too. This should facilitate germination of the seeds with the onset of monsoons.
There are many more of such ideas which I shall be more than pleased to share.
    Regard’s,
    H Waliaa

  2. Respecter Sir,

  3. THIS IS NILANJANA. I DON’T KNOW HOW BIG I CAN MAKE IT IN FUTURE BUTT I CAN ALWAYS DREAM OF IT. AND IN MY DREAM I SEE A PLANET WHICH IS ALL GREEN.
I NEED ALL THE MUNICIPALITY DEPT. OR WHO SO EVER FIXED A RULE TO PLANT EACH HOUSE AT LEAST 6 BIG TREES AND MANY FLOWER POTS. IF ASKED HOW IT COULD BE THE ENCROACHED ROADS THAT 95 % OF THE HOUSES ARE COVERING CAN BE DEMOLISHED AND PLANT TREES. THEN EACH HOUSE SHOULD HAVE PLANTS OF MANY VARIETY . SO WE KEEP ON MOVING . PEOPLE SHOULD BE APPRECIATED BY GOVT FOR BEING THE MOST GREEN. THEN THE PARKS SHOULD BE WELL MAINTAINED AND WITH PLENTY OF BIG TREES AND BEAUTIFUL ONES LIKE GULMOHOR/NEEM/PEEPAL /EUCALYPTUS ETC.THIS WAY WHEN WE CREATE THE AWARENESS I THINK MANY PEOPLE ARE NOW A DAYS ALREADY AWARE CAN THINK OF BIGGER PROJECTS. NO LITTLE SPACE SHOULD BE GO EMPTY WITH OUT USE AND CAN PUT A TREE THERE. WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARD BY TAKING BIGGER PROJECTS LIKE ALL BARREN LANDS TO MAKE GREEN WITH HARD PLANTS .THEN OUR GOVT SHOULD NOT ALLOW BUILDERS MAKING BUILDING ONE AFTER ANOTHER BY TAKING OVER AGRICULTURAL LANDS.
THE RIVER SIDES CAN BE BEAUTIFIED PROPERLY.
HERE AND THERE WE CAN MAKE GREEN PATCHES WITH SPLASH OF COLOURS.

WHAT DO YOU SAY. AND YOU NDTV CAN MAKE IT TRUE YOU HAVE SO MUCH OF POWER TO MOVE PEOPLE WITH YOU , LIKE I AM WRITING AND SO MANY MORE HAD AND WILL.

LOVE.AND REGARDS TO ALL YOU ARE CONCERN AND CREATED THIS.

  4. respected sir
i only say to you that it is the only thing in my notic as the single pirson will make his towards this then whole the earth will be green.

    thank you sir
    i m just only a simple guy.

  5. I am a resident of andaman and nicobar islands which is a remote area and is a go destination for nature lovers. for the past few years the andaman adiministration has been not taking any strigent steps to stop the quarry operation in brookshabad area.in an area of 3 sq kms there are 49 quarry and around 60 stone crushing plants. which is creating havock effecting the lives of human being, flora and fauna.coz of the sound pollution caused by the blasting and crushing . all the animals. including wood peigon which is a migratory bird is not seen.they have destroyed naturally grown forest. the current Mp who belongs to the congress party is also supporting these people as the crushing and quarry operators belong to cong party. the need of the hour is to immediately stop this and to find an alternate land , to save the lives of innocent people, public instutions like 4 schools, plenty of religous instituion, banks, the defence area of Brichgunj, and the district jail where the inmates are the worst sufferers of this pollution. The most important brookshabad was a place to dump ammunition by the japnese during second world war.the dupms are still there and these can destablise the situation if one of these explodes while blasting. all logistics support in port blair with accommodation for the team can be arranged. if interested for a visit. or else the same can be downloaded from the google earth’s web site. these r done in the name of development but the fact is that the tsunami victims r still staying in temprory shelters and no arrangements have been made for their future but crores and crores of rupees have been spent in account of tsumani victims.
a red alert is to be sounded early.

  6. I look forward to hearing about the 24 or so environmentalists you select from all over India

  7. dear,if we really want to make this successful then i can suggest a campaign that will involve millions of children with least expenditure if to be spent by sponsors.

  8. Dear Sir, I know of a person who has single handed planted more than a thousand trees in Vasant Kunj, when it was a deserted stretch being promoted. Initially he was faced with a lot of meanness, with people uprooting the young saplings and trampling down ones that had taken roots. But he laboured on silently; without asking for recognition or reward. A first class IIT Kanpur student, people like him deserve to be appreciated and brought forward.
    Yours,
    A Banerjee

It’s nice to make all those people to be a part of this campaign who really want to contribute to the nature but couldn’t ,due to lack of platform.sir ,we can make the places which are highly Air polluted ,by making sunday free from automobile emissions. In such a way we can atleast control or reduce the concentrations in the atmosphere.we shouldn’t make the future generations suffer from our deeds.

  27. Dear Sir,
Ours is a school in the remote Palani Hills of the Kodaikanal area.It is a free school for children of farm labour, and other disadvantaged sections of the surrounding villages. We atour school are totally committed to saving the fragile eco-system of the Palani Hills. In this regard, our students all aged between 8and 11years plant trees, take care of them, and spread an awareness amongst the village panchayats and the villagers. Wereject the use of plastic and clean our vilages on a regular basis.

These little children are amazingly conscious of a clean enviornment for the future of the earth and with their little hands and meager support from other sources go around earnestly spreading the message of agreen and clean world.

We are very eager to join this campaign and want to actively participate on a wider platform.

Our school has already taken the green pledge

    regards,
    Padmini

  34. Respected Sir,
I have developed an Improved cook stove,as per the requirement of the villagers and installed approximately 10,000 nos in Mhow block of Indore district.I claim as per the requirement, because it was designed after installation of around 5lacks numbers in ten years. It a commercial product as wel as costeffective as it consists of dry clay processing. The already installed 10,000 nos gave business losses because of nontough nature. Now to be manufactured by toolings in the industry. The product nhas a huge potential and has never been taken care off as the requirement belongs to downtrodden section. The product has been patented on my name and I have five such products.I have actually patented the technology for processing of dry clay
The product has an efficiency of 35% as against 3to5% in the regular conventional form. The part catching attention was all the stoves were installed by the users themselves as the developed product was used as a hardware and fixed at their conventional place by mud.Actually a competition was created among all the panchayats through forest deptt.as,”Banao Apna Chulha” and the best was selected on various judging points like Asthetics, plce selected, material used, efficiency etc.The important part of the cookstove being it doesnot need any chimney for the circulation of air but circulation is available because of difference of pressure in the lower chamber designated as airchamber.I still have a target of making the world smokeless whether it comes in the knowledge of ndtv or not
    Purushottam Pande

  35. Respected Sir,

I do think that the show you are organising is just fantastic. I am XI class student and according to me the biggest problem which would be generated for our future generations would be the problem of energy crises and pollution. As the energy demand is increasing day by day and most of the energy resources are coal & petroleum but these sources are polluting our enviroment on the other hand solar energy is a very good concept it requires a hudge investment & open area. To solve these problem I have designed a plant which generates free unimaginable amount of energy which gives energy for 1000″s of years and causes no polution. It runs on no fuel but on the perpetual motion of the earth. It is practically and theoritically proved and with the platform given by you I want it to be used by each & everyone for a green & a sustanaible development

  36. I am Architect / Planner who has researched in the area of Green Buildings and Infrastruture Development. Currently i am interested to promote a ECOTAT ( Eco- Habitat) outside Bengaluru starting from 60 acres which can be scaled up incrementally using different Typologies. This would be a paradigm shift in the way habitats are planned and built. Using many New technologies and proven concepts in other fields, time and cost of construction would be drastically reduced . With a focus on Renewable energies and green development, minimum efficacies of 40% less power besides many health benefits would accrue to the habitants. These prototypes could be easily replicated after accounting for local climate, end use and localisation of components. Depending on the demand generated, local iindustries could be re-egineered to adpot these processes, thereby Greening all new development and infrastructure.

  37. I am a student studying in class 8th in the heritage school vasant kunj, I dont have any degree or diploma but i have only a passion to offer you. A PASSION TO SEE OUR ENVIRONMENT HAPPY AND HEALTHY. I would really appreciate if you would give me a chance to be a part of this campaign. So far i have showcased movies in my school, organised earth hour in my society and am already planning to make a big change………..

  38. I am really happy that NDTV is taking such a kind of initiative.. I am An Environmental Science student and i would really be happy to become a part of any such activity.. 40. we have a simple zero waste management system at home this is a very environment-friendly method of kitchen waste disposal. This our contribution to greenathon. Our message to people is to separate biodegradable from nonbiodegradable waste.if kitchen waste is recycled, gardens will provided with good manure .Give the earth a green cover.

  41. Thanks for lunching this great mission NTDV GREAT.AS a teacher i want all the children should plant at least one tree on their birthday. and this should be inculcated by parents and teachers. Amisson called ‘GREEN BIRTHDAY” SHOULD BE LOUNCHED BY OUR KENDRIYA VIDIYALAYAS. THANKS TOBE PART OF THIS MISSION.

  42. Dear NDTV team,

It was a marvelous attempt from your part to promote awareness towards environmental issues. I have been concerned about environmental problems for a very long time. I have been creating awareness in my own way with regard to environmental issues. It started with my stint as a teacher at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Delhi. I have been associated with WWF and TERI, NIE, Dept of Environment also regarding the same. Now I am residing in Bangalore and I hope to work towards educating children and young people. I have elicited ways to conserve the environment in my book “Think Globally Act Individually” published by Prism Books. This has created awareness and sensitized many school children. However, I feel there is a lot yet to be done. So, now, I want to thoroughly involve myself in working for such a cause. I need a platform for making this work. Can you guide me regarding this?

    Thanks

Looking forward to hear from you!

    Regards

    Padma Nandyal

  43. Dear NDTV team
I am very glad to see that you are organising environment awareness pograme.I am also thanking you because it is the right time to make aware as much as people otherwise it will be too late. I dreamed it from a long time because I am a cinematographer and made many documentary on jungle and environmental issues. So I have seen very closely the vanising jungle and polluting water and land like a nightmare. Thank you once again.

    Rabindranath Das.

  44. This is Chirag Talati from Ahmedabad. I have been spending my weekend doing plantation. Here in Gujarat, especially in Ahmedabad cattles are big problem for such activity. I have been asking for “Tree Guards” in every monsoon season but during five years I got only five tree guards last year. Government and municipality campaign for green city and clean city but they are not providing tree guards or plants. Police are taking “hapta” from cattle owners and people never get rid of it. Please please, if anybody finds anyone or any sector who provides plants or tree guards, contact me on ctalat00us@yahoo.com. If we find about 100 people from every city who willingly want to grow trees, we can change better…..regards..

  45. pls watch … “an inconveniant truth” a documentry which will provide u many data, awareness..etc… this is based on climate change….
