Gmail Starts Audio And Video Chat. Whats Next?
Posted on November 13th, 2008 by dhirender
Gmail and Google App subscribers can now choose to speak with friends on a video screen and simultaneously instant message them in a Google Chat box. As the Google Blog states:
Just click on the new “Video & more” menu in a Gmail chat window and select “Start video chat” or “Start voice chat.” You can switch to a full screen view or pop out the chat window and change the size and positioning as you wish.
You’ll need to download a plugin from here, and you’re good to go. And unlike Chrome, it works on Mac as well.
While this cannot spell good news for Skype, would conferencing be the next frontier for Google? Should DimDim be taking note?
