Facebook Crosses 350 Mln Users, To Remove Regional Networks

It has been a great year for making the world more open and connected. Thanks to your help, more than 350 million people around the world are using Facebook to share their lives online.

so starts the open letter from mark Zuckerberg.

And with that is also the news that Facebook plans to tighten its privacy policy and in the process sunset regional networks. Regional networks are pretty big, with over 50% of Facebook users members of regional networks. India for instance, reportedly has around 12 million Facebook users, and numerous “India networks” with the largest having around 13,198 members.
The new privacy controls would allow you to set access levels for your content – whether you want it to be available to only your friends, friends of your friends, or everyone.
This is a pretty big shift, and it should be interesting to see how well this is rolled out.
