Cars Go Online

Car sales in India grew 12% to 12 lakh i n 2007-08, up from 10.7 lakh the previous year, according to the Society of Automobile Manufacturers. The industry is expected to grow a further 12-13% this year as well.
Of this number, it is estimated that almost 12-15% research cars on the internet before buying them. While I do not know how this number is estimated, I would expect people to be turning to the internet for research – for instance while buying my car, I tried out all the online portals to check the kind of price range and availability for second hand cars that I could expect.
No doubt this is driving the increasing number of car portals in India, complete with fancy technologies that give 3D views etc. Expect a lot more to launch soon.
