3G Auctions To Start By Feb 25

Looks like 3G might just be getting closer to reality, with the government deciding to go ahead with the auction of three slots of third generation (3G) spectrum for all 22 telecom circles on February 25, and scheduled to be completed by March 3rd to 5th.
That, the revenue budgeted from the auction (an estimated Rs. 30,000 crore) has been accounted for in thie financial year may just be the reason that the auction does not get delayed this time around.
Successful bidders would have to make a payment upfront within 15 days of winning 3G licence. Spectrum would be allotted in the first week of August. [Via]
