Knol, Google’s communally-constructed online encyclopedia which has been compared to Wikipedia has quietly launched versions in other languages – while French, German and Italian are official, as TechCrunch observes, a Spanish version and a Korean version also seem to be lurking around there somewhere.

Norway-based Telenor, the world’s seventh largest telecom operator with a subscriber base of about 159 million, has bought a 60% stake in Unitech Wireless for Rs 6,120 crore, valuing the company at Rs. 11,620 crores. A new study, Harnessing the Power of Blogs, by BuzzLogic and conducted by JupiterResearch, revealed that blogs by creating conversations can have more impact on purchase decisions than social networks. Even as talks of a slowdown in the economy are doing the rounds, the wireless telecom subscribers surged by a staggering 10.07 million in September 2008 to reach 315.31 million. Of this GSM operators added about 7.69 million new subscribers.

In a follow up to the Series D funding of $53 million raised by LinkedIn earlier on in June 2008 which valued the company at $1billion, this round of funding of $22.7 billion brings in Goldman Sachs, The McGraw-Hill Companies, and SAP ventures to LinkedIn and includes a re-investment by Bessemer Venture Partners.
