GTalk Gets To The iPhone

Google has released a Google Talk client for the iPhone and iPod Touch browsers that allows instant messaging as long as the browser is open. Since it runs off the browser, Safari in this case, it means the user does not have to download or install anything, but it also means that navigating away to another browser window or application changes the status to “unavailable” and the Google Talk session is restarted when the user returns.
The experience of using it on the iPhone is very similar to that of the application itself, and it synchronises well with your Gtalk account, so that all the chats also land up in the “Chats” area in your Gmail account, etc.
However, I doubt it will make too much of a dent unless it is released as an application, and not a service that runs off the browser … and when voice chat too is available over it.
