Spice Launches The People’s Phone
In a move to penetrate the rural markets in India through product vernacularisation, Spice Telecom has introduced its ‘people’s phone’ with a lifetime prepaid connectivity at Rs 599. As this post mentions, a large part of the telecom growth story is driven by the sub-urban areas and lifetime validity schemes.
The S-300 phone, launched recently comes with a Kannada audio interface system and push applications for value-added services (VAS)- which will be of help to farmers to retrieve commodity prices of vegetables, pulses, beverages, cereals, etc.
The phone comes with a three-year warranty, with outgoing calls to any local number at Re 1.
Through this offer,Spice claims to be addressing a customer base constituting 75%t of Karnataka’s population. [Via]
