SearchMela - Gateway to Multiple Travel Sites

Tripmela.com, which bills itself as “India’s only online source for airfare specials, hotel deals, and great travel packages“ has launched SearchMela that allows visitors to search multiple travel websites from one web page.
This is different from a meta search engine, like in that it does not give listings from different travel websites/ airline websites, but instead serves as a gateway allowing the visitor to browse across multiple travel websites - currently the travel websites it shows are ClearTrip, Yatra, MakeMyTrip and TravelGuru.
I fail to see what need this site answers. Wouldn’t a travel meta search give better features?

  1. Thanks for posting about Searchmela. We feel that Searchmela puts control in the hands of consumers - we metasearch, you have to sift through a huge list of results, oftentimes from websites you aren’t familiar with and don’t trust. Plus, you don’t know which sites you’ll be able to compare - what if you prefer to book with Cleartrip, but the metasearch site doesn’t display their results?

In addition, metasearch sites frequently have deals with online travel agencies to bias their results page so that the sites with which they have a deal are displayed first.

With Searchmela, you only compare the sites that you want, and you’re taken directly to the results page on that site. The consumer is entirely in control.

    Thanks for mentioning us…
