Inspired by the idea that people can come together in a community based format and create a company, the guys at BeerBankroll.com decided to give feet to that idea roping in their love for all things beer in the bargain.
In other words, BeerBankroll aims to start a brewery and pub in which many of the key decisions are made by members. Membership is open to anyone who can contribute US$50 as annual fees (less than $4.17 a month) in exchange for voting rights on ideas such as the company name, logo, product design, product mix, marketing plan, advertising and sponsorship. The initial goal is to get at least 50,000 members. For each year of membership, member will receive an extra vote and a new exclusive t-shirt from BeerBankroll.
Assuming this idea works, and the company makes a profit, the plan is to divide it three ways - one-third would be distributed to the company’s members in the form of reward points based on a 1 to 1 ratio of dollars to points, which can be used to purchase items on the BeerBankroll marketplace. Another one-third would be given to charities as voted on by the members, with the remaining one-third getting reinvested in the company.
One thing to note, is that BeerBankroll members will not have an ownership or equity stake in the company. However, BeerBankroll members can play a role in the management, operation and development of the company.
