Launched - iNav Navigational Software For GPS Phones
MapmyIndia has launched iNav, a GPS (global positioning system) based navigation solution that offers maps and navigation software for mobile phones in India - a service that was available on internet, car devices and Blackberry phones earlier.
The service helps locate where the user is, where he is headed, provides turn-by-turn graphical map guidance and also helps him search for a locality, street or point of interest.
The site claims that the user would also be able to find and select locations and discover thousands of points of interest along the way - be it ATM’s, banks, police stations, doctors, hotels, restaurants, theatres, bars, petrol pumps etc.
The iNav solution includes seamless all India coverage of 280,000 points of interest across 52 categories such as ATMs’ restaurants, petrol pumps, police stations, etc. The coverage area covers 55,000 towns and villages and landmarks in 150 cities along State and national highways, with additional details for 18 cities as told to domain-b.
Now if only crowdsourcing could be added to this - it would make for quite an interesting experience.
