A user driven writing community based on the concept of Collaborative Book Building, OurOwnBook.com brings together users who wish to write and in an interactive and collaborative form to develop a storyline which would be published as a book.
In short, it serves as an online platform where anybody can add a sentence to a story line and get his name as the co-author of the book when it gets published.
Started by two IIM-Indore graduates Dhruv Bhushan and Anubhav Jain with all of Rs. 3,000, Ourownbook.com wants to do to wannabe writers, what Wikipedia is doing in the business of information dissemination. As the site claims:
Share ThisHow it works? We provide a brief storyline. The users develop the story collaboratively by appending to the already existing content. The moderators continuously review the contributions while providing cues, to develop an interesting plot. Once the storyline is completely developed, we get it published in the form of a book. All contributors are recognized as co-authors of the book, making it Our Own Book.
