Posted on April 6th, 2008 by dhirender
India will have 500 million mobile consumers by 2010 with 60 million mobile users having video capability, 100 million music capability, 200 million radio capability, 250 million camera capability and 250 million with internet capability, according to D Shivakumar, vice-president and managing director, Nokia India who added that, “Mobile phones are not just about voice anymore. Services delivered through mobiles would open up a big opportunity for the advertisers in India with a huge untapped potential.” [Via]

Indeed, mobile phone has emerged as the new ad-screen in India, and in many other countries.
Each of us knows about the neverending spams and ads that come as SMS on our mobiles, courtesy to the service providers.
Starting from health insurance, to investment plans, to mobikes and to social issues like HIV/AIDS and Pulse Polio… mobiles are nice gadgets for communication in the other way, as well.
I had once participated in an online survey, on how do several non profits spread their campaigns through mobiles and through the Internet.
Best wishes,
