Download Over 1400 Movies For $1
With the aim to reach out to Indians of all age groups the world over, Reliance backed Big Flicks has announced an offer to download movies and plays at a cost of $1 according to Indian Television.
The offer, includes around 14000 titles, and will be available for a week from 8 March till 15 March in seven different languages which are Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati and Bengali.
Given that the a recent study by InternetTrafficReport.com reveals that the quality of internet services in India is among the worst in the world, doubt if they could be targeting Indians in India.
I had often wondered how the retail DVD pricing model was working out with the entry of Moser Baer and the impact on the online DVD rental business. At the Rs. 49 pricing for Moser Baer, it would be cheaper to just buy a DVD rather than pay for the download, however, this article in Economic Times conjectures that we should expect a rise in the prices soon, because of the unviability of the models - that should come as relief for the online movie rental providers.
