Now, Find IIT Lectures On YouTube Too
Taking a cue from US universities who post course content on YouTube, 13 video courses in science and engineering of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) have been on free trial runs on YouTube since the last month, with classes at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, also expected to follow suit. By March, 110 video courses, spanning 40 hours, will be ready for viewing.
The project is part of the National Project on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a joint venture between the seven IITs and IISc, funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
A recent post had mentioned about IIT putting their lectures online, as part of a Rs 110 crore government project to help lift generally poor standards at an estimated 1,500 engineering colleges across India, but the project was plagued by poor usability - this seems to be a better option, also given the inherent community that YouTube inherently holds, and thus ensuring a larger audience.
