The New New Chandamama

Chandamama.comChandamama, with over 60 years of storytelling under its belt has relaunched its website chandamama.com. The plans are to make popular Chandamama comics, and stories such as Vikram-Vetal, Akbar-Birbal, Panchatantra, and Jataka Tales available on the revamped site, along with folk tales and snippets from different states of India. The objective is to make it a source of infotainment for children.
The site content will be classified into three categories; namely classical, contemporary, and current, according to Techtree.
The classical section will include mythology, Panchatantra stories, Jataka Tales, and stories about Vikram and Vetal; the contemporary section will have Indian and world history, plus stories about Indian achievers; while the current section will deal with stories on Science, General Knowledge, and Sports.
Given the huge repository of content they have, the current site is rather basic and simplistic - no doubt just a step towards what they can be. I would expect a number of more interactive features going forward.
See this as yet another example of the interest that children’s portals are generating.
