How Important Are Social Features for eCommerce?

Further to my earlier post on online shopping, comes this report from ChoiceStream which claims that 69% of respondents who spent $1,000 online in the prior six months prefer sites which offer personalized reviews, and were likely to do repeat purchases from sites which offer these features. Among reviews too, reviews from other consumers rank a bit higher than reviews from the company offering the product, showing a clear trend towards the emphasis on social features for etailing websites.
