Developed by Avinash Garg, Rajesh Bhatia and Piyush Gupta, RouteGuru gives a detailed description of the route one must take to reach a destination in the shortest possible time.
“When I was in the US and the Middle-East, I noticed people printing maps before heading for any destination on road and that’s how this idea came to me and I thought of starting this website in India,” Avinash Garg told the Economic Times, adding that the USP of the website is its landmark based search process, i.e. when one keys in the destination and the point of origin of the travel, the website will throw up a comprehensive landmark-based map, together with the distance to be travelled in kilometres.
A great idea - sure now we have an In-Car GPS Navigator for India too, but I suspect that the initial market for GPS Navigators would be rather small.
