The name “Chidia” is derived from the first three letters of the two words “children” and “diabetes”. The website itself with bright colours that would no doubt attract children allows users to enter as a child or as a parent.
For children, it explains the ailment through interactive games of lazy insulin cells versus smart insulin’s. It explains complications via participatory drag-and-drop sections, and teaches children basics through limericks and rhymes. It even has fun cookouts for kids where they learn diet tricks, etc.
Parents can get access to a community where stories, experiences, symptoms, complexities, anxieties and tips can be shared.
With emphasis on health online increasing, expect more such websites coming up.
