Yahoo!’s Effortless Searching?
Consistently being beaten by Google on search, Yahoo! has launched Search Assist - which includes the integration of audio, video and photos directly into the search results, is designed to better understand user intent and to get consumers to the results they are looking for in one search. Search Assist gives consumers real-time query suggestions as well as related topics and concepts, to help refine their search (however, I kept getting error messages when I used this). The other interesting feature is Advanced Search, which allows a number of options to refine your search including country, domain suffix, etc.
While the Yahoo! interface remains fun as always, I am all for a visual interface which shows relationships between the various results which could further be enhanced via clusters.
